Thomas Augsberger's Eden Rock Media is a film and television production company. Thomas also consults foreign and US media companies, producers, and investors.
Thomas Augsberger is a German born and trained attorney, Los Angeles based producer, and international media consultant. After 6 years at Key Entertainment, he founded Eden Rock Media, Inc. in Los Angeles in 2002. ERM is a Film & TV production company and a media consulting business.
On the consulting side Thomas advises a number of media clients, most prominently Germany's Leonine Studios led by Fred Kogel which emerged in May 2019 from a KKR financed roll-up of German all-rights distributors Tele Muenchen Group and Universum Film and the acquisition of producers Wiedemann & Berg (scripted) and I & U TV (unscripted). Prior to Leonine, Thomas had advised Dr. Herbert Kloiber‘s Tele Muenchen Group for 23 years in the US as TMG’s exclusive North American representative.
Thomas is deeply experienced in the production & acquisition of feature films, TV series and content libraries, investments in US distributors and production companies, co-financing, co-production, and distribution of film, television and digital projects, and negotiation of German output deals with Studios for Theatrical, HE, and TV exploitation. Over the course of his 26 year consulting career, Thomas has acquired hundreds of individual film and TV projects as pre-buys from US producers, sales agents, and Studios, including pre-buys of Marvel’s IRON MAN Franchise, Voltage’ Academy Award winner THE HURT LOCKER, Paramount’s SHUTTER ISLAND, Summit’s TWILIGHT Franchise, Lionsgate’s JOHN WICK Franchise, and most recently KNIVES OUT, BORDERLANDS, BALLERINA and HUNGER GAMES: the Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. On the TV side, Thomas selected and licensed German speaking rights for series like “Flashpoint”, “Anger Management” and "The Night Manager". He has also overseen various TMG investments in the US, including a preferred equity investment in Lionsgate Entertainment in 1999 and the acquisition of the Mutual Film Library in 2006.
As a producer, Thomas has developed and produced more than 15 independently financed feature films, mostly from first time writer/directors, including
Thomas has recently executive produced “The Professionals”, written by Michael Colleary and starring Brendan Fraser & Tom Welling and “Spy City”, written by William Boyd and starring Dominic Cooper.
He is a founding partner of Filmaka, BestEverChannels, and Liquid Light. He has served on the board of Lionsgate from 2002-2004 and currently serves on the Board of BEC, Liquid Light and ROW8, a US PVOD & EST platform.
